I had already done mkinitrd and had put the Syatem.map file in
the /boot directory.
But the problem is still there.
Anyway, I think I should spend some days reading the
howtos like "From Power up to Bash Prompt Howto", etc.

If that does not help, I will post my problem again to this list.

It's amazing how much a novice can learn while trying to
compile a kernel from source .
