sorry i think i did not get my self very clear on that query. Some times while usinng ls the listing is so long that one wants to get out of it immidiately .Generelly by giving ctrl -c it takes a long time to stop .What i ment was top stop the running screen immidiately.. If for that there is some command to forcefully stop.
