Yupp, the mode defaulted to is udma 2, fastest possible. 

But the results are not, hdparm results under kernel 2.2 says 14m/sec; under 
2.4.x it says 14mb /sec

I have had a theory on i810 video grabbing the bus. Dont know much about 
this, but disabling i810 in .config also did nt help the speed. Neither did 
mail to linux-kernel :-(

So new kernel-slower HDD
