sory, i wasn't precise in what i said. the algo is something like this,
the web-server should chek (i think some kind of ID is sent) if the
browser requesting the URL, suports compresion on the fly, and
acordingly decide the strategy. the browser, when gets the ((g)ziped)
response wil decode it (if the need b) and render it. thus, there's no
option which needs to b set. its inbuilt in webbrowsers. agen, to b
precise, surely in netscape.

it is there since netscape 3.04, as far as i know. may b erlier too.

no, u don't; at least for suportin the on-the-fly de-compresion.
