rpm -e telnetd should work on RHL systems (>= 6.2). Or comment out the
telnet port from /etc/inetd.conf and restart inetd.
BTW, if someone is trying to hack into your system, then be careful -
block all services that you don't need. Read up on ipchains. In
particular, if you are on the Internet 24x7, then something like
ipchains -I input -p tcp -i eth1 --dport 23 -j REJECT
should be there in your rc scripts somewhere (assuming eth1 is your
interface to the Internet, and you want to block telnet - repeat
for all the services you want to block, but provide locally). RHL 6.2
default installations had a few bugs that made remote root access
probable.
