[LIH] Books for ref

My cousin is planning to move to Linux -- he needs some good books for
reference (he's just a newbie). They have got a vender in their locality,
selling only O'Reilly publications, related to open source . .

Can you folks sweep some suggestions, which ones should they go for ?
