hmm ftp doesnt seem that bad an idea. Now with ftpfs allready there. I
dont know if there has bee any attempt o do tha same over stp ( ssh
really) then one could get some compression etc. Infact if running over a
proxy, even caching could be done. Idont know whether samba or nfs does
any caching,
