The default resolution of X on my machine is 1280x1024. When I run mplayer
with -fs option I get full screen only in the Eterm/Xterm. If a window
manager is running than I can also see the window of xterm/Eterm on the
screen along with max./min./restore buttons.

Due to the above I tried the hack of not starting icewm if I want to play a
VCD. I have just put the following in .xinitrc :

Eterm -g +250+300

Now I get only an Eterm square without any borders and buttons. From there
I run the dat file from the cd and I get full screen.

$mount /cdrom
$mplayer -fs /cdrom/Mpegav/Avseq01.dat

I have copied the default mplayer.conf file in /etc. In that file u can set
whether u want full screen mode or not and other options. I have put fs=yes
in that file and now I run mplayer without any switches.

Hope this helps.

Regards
