        Are you giving the partition type? Eg for mounting /dev/hda1 which
is a windows partitoon
        mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/winc
assuming /mnt/winc exists.

        Again the same thing. You can try putting auto in place of ext2 
in /etc/fstab for the listing of /dev/fd0
        Most floppies are fat formatted, so giving vfat will also do.
