Thanks Faisal for this. Yes the picture quality is much much better. I
compiled mplayer as normal stuff, not as debian package and it runs very
well in full screen mode mplayer -fs, but the only problem is it runs in an
xterm and the xterm window is visible on the screen. Is it possible to view
the movie without the xterm/Eterm window ?
This looks to me to be a command line player. Are there any front ends for
this. Did not find one on the site.
When i peeked in DOCS directory I got this for the debian :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
To build the package:
Get the cvs version, or .tgz and uncompress it,
link main to something nicer... ln -s main mplayer-0.11pre (optional)
move there (cd main)
run dpkg-buildpackage
be patient... and you're done!
go up a directory and run:
dpkg -i --force-overwrite mplayerXXXXXX.deb !!!!
That's all folks!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
But when I try to compile at the end it gives me the following error :
<snipped>

What is this debstd ? Which package contains this ? It looks to be missing
on my system.
Thanks a lot.
