This is not self advertising but I have written a deonaagaree phonetic editor
which can translate between english and deonaagaree. It's potentially multifont.
So you type same language from english keyboard and it can convert it to proper
text.
It needs much polish but it's usable. I have published poems using that...

That thing is bit difficult. Somehow I am not convinced that web is good enough
editor platform. But it remains a vital application.

Search for kfontinst on freshmeat. It can handle any ttf font. Good enough. You
won't ask for anything else...
Bigger problem than font is the keyboard. There is no widespread and practical
keyboard (as practical as english) due to inherent phonetic nature of languages
and of course due to inherent complexity....
I would be more than glad to offer any help....
