Mine FAT16 only.  The same command did work earlier.

I tried this also, but no use.


   I think this is what happened.  Please correct me
if I am wrong.

When I installed a lilo with few options, it was ok. 
But the second time, I installed it with lots of
options.  This time, lilo went on writing beyond the
limit of MBR.  So my filesystem on hda1 got corrupt.
If this is true, is this a bug in lilo ?  Is there any
way I can get back the data in that partition ?
