i tried what u asked me. i moved to 4.03 with 3D. it
didn thelp
and as i'm new to linux, i dont know how to edit
XF86Config. so if u could send me some instructions i
would really appreciate it. i have 5/6 computers setup
with mandrake 8. all are giving the same problem it
would really be very helpful.

hey i just did a install on i810 box and it is ok.

Xconfigurator?? dump it. check your
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file and go to the
screen section and set the resolution there.
install XFree86 4.0.3 with 3D accel ok! it will work
fine.
hey dont reinstall stuff like that.
