Okay I'll give it a shot and get back to you.

Yes that seems to be a problem... as I said /lib/modules *does not* have a
2.2.16 in it. When I try to soft link it, I get a whole arrray of messages
about unresolved errors. I also get the following:

Loading sound module (opl3sa2) /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/soundlow.o: kenel
module version mismatch. /lib/modules/2.2.16 was compiled for kernel version
2.2.16-3 while this kernel is 2.2.16.

Uname shows the kernel as 2.2.16 though the rpm I had used was for kernel
2.2.16-3 (from pcq).

Allthis is confusing to say the least.
