But the packets are meant to be for destination mail servers, which can be
yahoo.com or any other mail server. So, how do I set a route for these
mails?

I always thought "route" command acts according to the destination address
!!!
And the ISP SMTP address is not the destination address.

or something simillar "man route" would tell you all you need to know :)
