 I dont know what you tried - but the redhat kernel (from the kernel-source
 rpm, say) is patched and customized by redhat. So if you want to download
 patches from ftp.kernel.org, download a standard, uncustomized kernel from
 the same place.

 PS: Go to 2.2.19 - it is the latest in the 2.x series ... and read
 Documentation/Changes in the kernel source tree *first* :)
