I think, POP3 protocol is used for incomming mail and SMTP for outgpoing.
It is written clearly in NScape's Mail Preference settings and the relevent
Help text.
Is there any deviation from this in current Internet scenario ?
By the way, why POP is called post office protocol ? What roll a post
office has to do in it. I guess it was first introduced for Post Offices in
US ?
( Previously I was thinking , because one can pop ( as pop in the link-list
) one's mail from mail-box that's why it is named so. )
Regards & thanks in advance !
