Apart from all the information in the other replies in this thread, if
you want to automatically download the public key associated with the
signed message you are viewing, then put a keyserver line in
~/.gnupg/options :
keyserver wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net
(You can use any of the other keyservers as well)
