Hi friends, I'm Somen, a newcomer to this list. Thanks to the organisers and
also to you for providing the opportunity of discussing my problems and
getting suggestions.

I've a celeron-800 machine with pcqlinux7.1 running on it. I'd a small disk
of 8.4GB earlier and recently taken a new 20GB disk. Then I planned to
install the OS in the bigger disk and sell out the smaller one after taking
backup. So I put the big one as primary master and the other as secondary
master and while installing the OS I included the small disk as a /user
partition so that I could take backup of it. So it was done. Now I want to
remove it from my pc and install a new additional 20GB HDD. So what I did, I
simply removed it physically from the mother board and the hdd power cord
was disconnected. But in this situation my machine never boots into linux!!
It always searches for the smaller disk (hdc) and drops me into a rescue
shell. Once the hdd is put back the problem goes off. Can anyone suggest me
how can I stop my linux from searching for the /dev/hdc so that I can remove
the small hdd physically?

With many thanks and wishes,

Somen Chanda.
