IIRC, this point has come up 2 or 3 times in the last three
months.

Ultimate Answer : physical security with 50 Kg lock !

Temp Solution : Password protect the LILO boot from HDD. The
person intending to break through can still break through by

a) Booting through floppy and bypassing your lilo.conf
b) Booting via loadlin or alternate boot loaders
c) Booting through a stand-alone distro (floppy / CD based)
and doing anything with everything !

Sub : Optimising updatedb database LOST #136

Updatedb creates a database of all installed files and saves
usually to /usr/local/var/locatedb. Certain entries waste time
and space. Rename and make a symlink, or make a script with:
#updatedb --prunepaths="/var /tmp /mnt /cdrom /floppy /proc"
