I prefer slack (similar look and feel to freebsd) - and somehow have the
feeling that I wouldn't touch dselect and apt-get with a ten-foot pole.

Others will have the opposite preference, I'm sure.

Otherwise, both of these distros are quite well reasoned - stable, powerful,
without a taste for rushing through with versions and releasing "the latest
and greatest software".  They are also quite secure out of the box compared
to redhat or mandrake.
