hi linuxers,
i have a 486 dx2 system
8 mb ram
conner 540 mb hard disk
trident video card
dos and windows 3.1 work fine on it.
i m not able to install and run linux on my sytem.
when i tried to install through pcq linux 7.1
it gave me a message...

Uncompressing linux........
- crc Error
System halted
****************
after that system stopped running.
so i took out the hard disk and installed linux on
celeron system,,, i was able to do that and linux ran
successfully (that means that hard disk is ok)
i tried suse 6.3, pcq linux 6.2, 6.0, caldera
openlinux
but all gave similar messages.
now when i have installed linux on my hard disk, on
486 this gives a message

Loading linux.......
Uncompressing linux....ok, booting the kernel
**********
after this the system stops to respond.
i have read the documentation that linux runs well on
486 dx2 with a mere 4mb ram, why not on my system then
?
