RH 6.1 and 6.2 did not install on my cyrix 486 dx-4 box, with 24 megs
and sis mobo. very similar to the original posters hardware. even the
text install sucked. RH 6.0 worked though. stick with a really light
weight window manager, lesstif, fvwm(2) worked quite well.
