Yahoo switched to a new protocol quite some time ago, but they hadn't
yet rewritten their clients for non Windows OSen. Yesterday they
finished upgrading all their clients and stopped supporting older
protocols.

They haven't stopped supporting in the conventional sense of rejecting
packets, instead, they send you a packet every two seconds telling you
to upgrade.

Login works with everybuddy, but you're damned if you login
successfully. Those 2 second packets work out to be a pretty good
denial of service attack. It makes eb extremely slow. You have to put
the system account on your block senders list as well.

don't know if other clients work. gaim doesn't.

I'm trying to fix the eb library for yahoo.

Speak the truth. That is always much easier, and is often the most powerful
