yes,and if he was using Suse there would definately be a file /etc/passwd-
which could be used to restore the deleted file.

just curious,how does one undelete a file this way?btw it's a good idea to
keep a knoppix cd handy for such emergencies.i've even used it to recover
windows machines (it creates lots of convenient shortcuts on the desktop to
mount all the partitions on the local disks).
