If one is ssh'ing into the remote machine, steps 2, 3, 5, 6 are redundant.

ssh -X remote.machine -l login konqueror

will get you a browser on the local machine (if you have KDE installed).

In fact, I see putty/secureCRT also support X11 forwarding, so even with 
Windows, one just needs a local X server.

Of course, check the ssh server settings to see whether X11 forwarding is
enabled or not (it is enabled by default on RedHat 7.2).
