I've seen a couple of free ones mentioned here in LIH in the past.

Putty is just the ssh client. It does not include X11 bits to it.
Enabling X11 forwarding in outty merely enables you to launch xterm etc.
from putty IF you have an X server also installed on your Windos desktop.
