It depends on to what extent the sound card is supported under Linux. I
have been using ES1371 card for over 3 years on Linux and after compiling
support in the kernel on my debian machine it works like a charm.

If you are using oss sound drivers than compiling it in the kernel and
loading the sound module and get set go. That simple.
