Thus spake USM Bish: > SB-16 is the *best* supported card under Linux and used
Thats what I'd also understood. > If it is statically compiled into the kernel nothing else > needs to be done. I'd recompiled SB support statically into the kernel, but nothing happened. e.g., when I tried to start aumix, I received the message: aumix: error opening mixer. and the daemon.log reports: modprobe: can't locate module sound-slot-0 modprobe: can't locate module sound-service-0-0 > You will get a message something like this at kernel > boot: > Soundblaster audio driver Copyright (C) by Hannu > Savolainen SB 2.01 detected OK (220) No, I did not get this message! But the dmesg shows: Sound intialization started Sound intialization complete > In case it is compiled as a module you need to load sb.o > as a module through your init scripts or subsequently. After compiling it as a module, and loading using scripts, it worked fine. For an academic discussion: why didn't it work in the first case? -- Cordially, Ajay Shankar _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ linux-india-help mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-india-help
