ymessenger adds itself to .xinitrc when you install it.  different 
people have had different behaviour.  some places it installs it into 
~*/.xinitrc, where * is every user in /etc/passwd, including those with 
uid<100

others have had it put in the the .xinitrc of the user installing, 
others have had it put in other places.

I don't know why, but in some cases, that causes X to not start.  I had 
that problem, and removing xinitrc fixed it.
