only the bootloader is removed. you didn't say which distro you had, if it
was mandrake, then put in the first cd and type rescue when prompted. next
chroot to /etc/mnt and run lilo again. other distros should have similar
mechanisms, whatever you do, don't format and reload just yet. someone else
on this list should be able to give a much better soln.
