I have been using Star office from OS/2 days and have recently shifted
from its linux version 5.2 to OpenOffice 1.0
I find that I can do all my work with this and there is absoluely no
problem that I face in using it for documents, sheets and presentations.
Yes, if one digs deep into things, one will find issues, but then which
is the piece of software in the world without issues ?
Pointis, itworks and does things smoothly and enriches the Linux desktop
and makes a lot of sense to shift people from the idiotic M$ to Linux
field.
I am converting my Chartered accountant these days to Linux and things
are going very well - there are problems and at times he does get
frustrated, which are basically to learn new things and not to do with
the software. This is just one of the many examples that I have with me.
If one just wants to critisize, there are multiple ways to do it well.
So, let's differentiate between plain criticism and the one by a user
who not just uses it but also understands the adventure tat Linux is and
the environment in which it is developing. It is ust great to see Linux
maturing on thedesktop - coming days are going to bring a lot more news
to the desktop users and we hope to be part of the news-makers.
