I will give it a try. However, Debian does not seem to provide
a readymade Pine package due to perhaps some kind of license problem
(I am not sure about that). So, maybe I will have to download &
compile it from source.

I tried to "apt-get install ssmtp" but apt told me it will remove Exim.
Now, I like Mutt and will continue to use it.
But I need to test this ssmtp for my friend who has shifted to Linux
recently, liked the command line's elegance, but is passing through a
transition period, and needs an all-purpose text based email client.
(Presently he does not appreciate the idea of "one program for one job"
idea.)

So, is there any way I can keep Exim, but still use ssmtp for testing ?
If I follow the ./configure , make, make install thing, will it
interfere with the present Exim installation ?
