thanks for your guidance, mr.gandhi. using your settings, i was able to configure the video, but the sound was still out. clearly, 50 was not the right card number for me. my tv card is packaged and marketed by frontech, but i had no idea what the make of the chipset was. there was no documentation for the card. finally, i desperately did a "strings <tv application dll on windows partition> | less" hoping for clues, and thought i found some. based on those, i tinkered with modules.conf and managed to get the sound after 8 or 10 reboots :-) thanks for showing me the right way. addendum: was there a way to enable the changes in modules.conf without a reboot? could i have done it in much less time? - t. -- cogito, ergo es. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: OSDN - Tired of that same old cell phone?
