Ogg Vorbis is a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology with all the benefits of Open Source. http://www.vorbis.com/ : I have listen that ogg format is better then mp3 Apparently. I've ripped a few tracks from an audio CD directly into ogg and they're pretty good. I'm not a VERY careful listener but one or two tracks showed a perceptible improvement. : How it is better ?? http://www.vorbis.com/faq.psp#other : what are the tech details ??? The site has 'em :) : Any player for ogg on Linux ?? Lot's of 'em. ogg123 is one. xmms has a ogg input plugin. They're the ones I use. : Any convertor from mp3 to ogg ?? oggasm. It's a perl script AFAIK that users mpg132 and ogg123 to convert the files. But in general, conversion from one lossy format to another is a bad idea. I believe you have to pay royalties for mp3 nowadays. http://slashdot.org/articles/02/08/27/1626241.shtml?tid=155 Ta ta -- ~noufal We must not let him think that this agency is a home for the weak-minded. --Sherlock Holmes, in "The Adventure of The Sussex Vampire" ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: Influence the future of Java(TM) technology.
