was there really a need to:
        o       quote the entire mail from shridhar if you did not intend to
                couter/add-to some of the points he raised
        o       top post.

the latter need not be strictly adhered to, but the former is an
incredible waste of bandwidth.

"the" major issue ?? for a server maybe or even a networked
workstation. for my personal machine which isn't even on dial-up as i
don't have a telephone, security may probably just one of the many
issues involved in deciding an OS. cost, ease of use, stability
familiarity etc. probably being other issues of more importance when
choosing an OS.

A pirated copy of win XP with pirated anti-virii software is probably
as secure as linux for my personal use, but it's illegal, and my pc
would probably be talking to microsoft servers everytime i'm online,
indicating yet another moron dumb enough to use MS-ware.
