Well, in that case I suggest you keep a dump of your CDs
on the Linux machine itself.

If the CD drive is shared, you can access it via smbfs as
well.

But I haven't seen any distribution that supports installation
files on an SMB filesystem. NFS, yes. SMB, no (surprised why).
