You want to know? I post a question on comp.dcom.sys.cisco using my news server (one in Germany, that gets feeds of about 35000 groups last time I counted). Within minutes, that post is transferred to maybe 20 or 30 peers. Each of those 20 will transfer my post to another 20 or so peers. In an hours time, my post is on a thousand different news servers, read by about 50,000 qualified Cisco professionals. Just let me know of *one* mailing list, on any topic, that has that kind of reach. People who say usenet is redundant obviously don't understand Internet beyond dialup accounts and hotmail.
