GMX offers IMAP as a paid service. But I think you have to be a resident of Germany :) Most providers offer POP for free, and IMAP as a value-added service. Courier IMAP has this feature that if you have a folder called Outbox and store your outbound mail in that folder, then those mails are injected into the outward mail spool by the IMAP server. Pretty useful.
