Since the users home dir are mounted via NFS, OS based quota is not the right choice.
Even I don't want to use LDAP (suggested while googling) just for quota sake as we already have mysql overhead.


I hope many people in this list would have similar situation.
Can someone please through light on this.


Why not store your quota in mysql as well?

You will have to patch qmail for this I guess ...


The patch which allows qmail to communicate with mysql also supports the quota.
But the problem is how do I tell qmail that if the sender is XXX , don't check the quota of the recepient??


I think I would require some sort of procmail filter..

Or an alternative would be if you use courier-imap - that is pretty good about enforcing quotas

Do you mean IMAP client, If yes, then this would be of much help since the validation has to be done before delivering the mail.
Imagine if some is sending through some webmail client like hotmail.
