Hello,
I have RedHat 9.0 with KDE-Koffice. The files created in MS-Office.xls files can b opened in KSpread.
But the files created by KSpread cannot be opened by MS-Excel.
I have tried renaming the files, etc Also, I have tried saving the files in different formats and opening them Excel.
How can I save a file in .xls extention using KSpread.
You need to export it. I don't know if kspread can save in excel format. If it can not, you should probably file a bug report.
And you can safely forget about excel opening kspread files. MS will never do that..
Can anyone tell me how can open documents created compatible for both Linux and Windows office applications ?
Use openoffice. It's way too heavy but works like charm.
If MS document compatibility is not a problem, then koffice is an excellent office suite. But that is a major thorn. The developers are working ahrd on import/export filters but things will take time..
