a technical and a programmers POV too. but not for the users who don't give a damn what even a database is !! Ideally, users are the ones who should dictate, but sadly technical issues rule. Its one of those endless debates that will eventually work out with the aid of FS like reiser4, WinFS or the BeFS. Just a matter of choice with both the sides equally correct in their context.
