I for one would say keep /home in a separate partition. This way even
if you reinstall or change distro your data remains intact. Also
always good idea to keep /tmp in no no-exec partition - take care of
security by not allowing files in /tmp to execute.
Rest is recomended and upto you on how much space to allocate.

Not Mem*2 school of thought but go for max. (2GB) unless hard disk
space is seriously constrained. You never know what all you may be
running at one time down the line and regret not having swap memory.
