Your kernel doesnt recognize the dvd burner I guess

got a base install

then you're stuck with configuring the kernel (use the default config file for 
that kernel in /boot, download the linux-sources deb and do a fakeroot 
make-kpkg --initrd kernel_image

[went through this a while back .. dont know if i was crazy but blew away a 
perfectly good slackware install and installed ubuntu hoary on it a while 
back .. then upgraded to breezy while I was at it, must have blown about 1 gb 
of my month's 3 gb quota]
