As you would be running scim in the daemon mode, the default option
would be ctrl-space to shift to a different language. In fact, you
might even be seeing a keyboard icon in the systray. Clicking on that
should help you switch to the language of choice.

Since I use kannada as the only other language, i have disabled all
languages under scim except kannada, so that ctrl-space will enable me
to type in kannada and ctrl-space again shifts back to english.
