Well, personally I deal with this by using 'scp' to fetch my flatfile
mailbox from my account on the Solaris system and then 'cat' it onto the
end of my flatfile mailbox on my Linux laptop (I also 'mv' the Solaris
mailbox out of the way first so that I don't re-fetch it next time).
Then I use 'mutt' to read the mailbox on my laptop.

Which isn't what you asked for, but never mind. :-)
