Hi,
For a few months, I used Toshiba Portege3010 with Linux on it and now,
I'm using Sony VAIO 505TR with RedHat 6.0 and I'm very satisfied with the VAIO.
Both work fine with Linux(RedHat) and they're very similar except that VAIO
505TR has 1024x768 display.(Portege 3010 has 800x600)
Anyway, I think Sony VAIO is really better than Toshiba Portege in many
points. Sony VAIO is really a cool laptop. :-)
I hope it helps.
