I just bought a Gateway Solo 9300 and for the last two days I've been trying
to get Xwindows to work.
I read all the tutorials I found on the internet and tried several different
combinations with no luck.

Here is what I've done

when I got the Xconfigurator part of the installation

I chose the Unlisted Video Card
then I chose the Mach64 server
For the Monitor I chose CUSTOM
then I chose Non-interlaced SVGA , 1024x768 @ 60Hz, 800x600 @ 75Hz
then 50-90Hz vertical sync
it successfully probes my card
then I reboot and I modify /etc/lilo.conf vga=791, then I run /sbin/lilo
when I type startx I can see see the Gnome Xwindow starting but it displays
a bunch of lines and moves the image up and down and just looks bad. It also
uses the left 75% of the screen, the rest of the screen just displays a
bunch of lines.
There is also a constant flickering of the screen.

Can anybody help me with this?
I looked on the web and I only found some tutorials for the Gateway Solo
9150 but nothing for the 9300.

thanks
