I agree that it is unlikely to be a kernel bug.  As far as I can remember
zipslack 7 and bigslack 7 run the same kernels, and zipslack does NOT give
me this problem.

The problem I have is with large directories (for example, /dev/) where
commands such as ls cause the laptop to lock after a few screens of the
list.  The filemanager in X also hangs the machine with large directories.

The problem is not a Netscape one.  This problem even occurs if it is the
first command I issue after a reboot/login.

I will try e-mailing the slackware support guys though.
