The thing is that many ISPs block mail which is sent directly from a
dialup IP without being sent through a local mail relay.
Also this seems rather academic - if your laptop is stolen then what
exactly are the chances that it will be used by someone who knows how
to set up ppp on Linux and who won't just reinstall the machine from
scratch?
For a start, in order to dial in to an ISP they have to crack a login on
the machine. Easy when you have a boot diskette, but there doesn't seem
that much point in it.
